Affordable ‘digital nomad’ hotel brand set to expand across Australia

DOMA Group, the Canberra development company that influenced the capital’s hospitality landscape when it opened its game-changing Hotel Realm, is setting its sights nationally – Little Nationally in fact.

Its Little National brand of hotels is expanding, with all Australian capitals on the drawing board to receive one.

When Little National (LN) debuted in Canberra in 2015, with Sydney following in 2020, it established a unique vibe. Here were hotels that delivered affordability combined with the trappings of a luxury digital nomad lifestyle. LN offered small rooms, acknowledging that its guests were the kinds of people who spent more time outside their private digs. But when they were in-room, they were treated to sumptuous beds, Appelles products and great tech. The properties put extra oomph into common areas – in Sydney, that’s the gorgeous indoor/outdoor bar, restaurant and workspace.

Its location – right next to Wynyard Station, is a winner too and that’s part of the LN blueprint – to be centrally and conveniently located.

Now Little National Newcastle is set to open next month (April), a repeat collaboration with the esteemed Bates Smart who designed the building on Honeysuckle Drive, the city’s waterfront entertainment area.

With interiors by another repeat collaborator, Luchetti Krelle, the Little National Newcastle “embraces the LN brand ethos, presenting a refined and luxurious offering.”

And like its predecessors, it offers a chic and comfortable communal workspace, only with library-like corrals for quiet concentration.

It features 181 rooms in the efficient “smart luxury and high amenity in a super-prime location” mould of the Sydney and Canberra properties at approachable rates.

Little National Adelaide is scheduled to open next year at 100 North Terrace, within walking distance of the Adelaide Convention Centre and Adelaide Oval.

As for elsewhere, DOMA says the development team is “actively pursuing opportunities in Melbourne and other capital cities” with a vision to expand into every capital’s CBD in Australia and New Zealand.
