The properties include the Beaver Creek Lodge in Beaver Creek, Colo.; Casa Monica Resort & Spa in St. Augustine, Fla.; Elliot Park Hotel in Minneapolis; Grand Bohemian Hotel Asheville and Grand Bohemian Hotel Charlotte in North Carolina; and Mansion on Forsyth Park and JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District in Savannah, Ga.; as well as the soon-to-open Grand Bohemian Greenville in South Carolina.
In order to process the payments, the Kessler Collection has partnered with cryptocurrency payment services provider BitPay, allowing guests to pay at each participating property using their BitPay wallet.
In addition to Bitcoin, Ethereum and Dogecoin, the hotels will accept Bitcoin Cash, USD Coin, Binance USD, Gemini Dollar and Paxos Standard Token.
In a statement, Kessler Collection CEO and chairman Richard Kessler called cryptocurrency payments "one of the most innovative concepts" within the hospitality space.
"I believe cryptocurrency is only going to gain acceptance, and partnering with BitPay allows us to offer more choices in the payment process," Kessler added.
According to Sonny Singh, BitPay's chief commercial officer, cryptocurrency payments can be cheaper than credit cards as well as easier for international travelers, who don't have to worry about foreign-exchange rates.
