Gordon Ramsay to open French tasting menu restaurant at The Savoy

Gordon Ramsay is to open his third restaurant at London’s The Savoy hotel next month. The fine-dining Restaurant 1890 will offer an evening French tasting menu from Wednesday to Saturday, costing £110 per person.

The “intimate dining experience” will seat just 26 guests, with a smart dress code and “a carefully curated wine list that gives guests a broad choice of bottles and Coravin wine by the glass”.

The name of the restaurant has been inspired by French chef Georges Auguste Escoffier, who joined The Savoy in 1890 and created dishes including Peach Melba – “a dish to honor the opera singer Nellie Melba during her stay at the hotel”.

The new restaurant will open on February 23, and will be located at the front of the hotel overlooking The Savoy’s entrance.

It will be headed up by Roman Zalaba, who was most recently Sous Chef at the Michelin-starred Latymer at Pennyhill Park Hotel.

Restaurant 1890 will be the third venue by Gordon Ramsay Restaurants at The Savoy, joining the established Savoy Grill, and the recently opened River restaurant, which is housed within the refurbished space previously home to Kaspar’s.
