Park Inn Heathrow splits into two Radisson hotels

Radisson Hotel Group has officially announced the rebranding of its existing Park Inn hotel at London Heathrow airport, splitting the property into two hotels under its Radisson and Radisson Red brands.

The property is located close to Heathrow Terminals 2 and 3, and previously offered nearly 900 rooms under the Park Inn offering. It has now been divided into two hotels – the 258-room Radisson Red London Heathrow, and the 600-plus room Radisson Hotel and Conference Centre London Heathrow.

It marks the first UK property under the group’s US-centric Radisson Hotels brand, and only the second UK hotel under the lifestyle Radisson Red brand, joining the Radisson Red Glasgow (there are also plans to open a Radisson Red close to the O2 Arena in Greenwich).

Both hotels share the same lobby, restaurant, lounge and bar, as well as Pace Leisure Club, featuring a gym, swimming pool, sauna and steam room.

The Radisson Red has an executive lounge, while the Radisson offers conference and events space including 41 meeting rooms.

The Radisson Red brand launched in Brussels in 2016, with subsequent locations including Glasgow, Campinas (Sao Paulo), Cape Town and Minneapolis.

The rollout of the brand has been relatively slow, although there has been a recent flurry of announcements, including forthcoming properties in Johannesburg, Liverpool and London, as well as three new European hotels set for Lisbon, Porto and Vienna.

There are now over 40 properties either open or under development under the brand worldwide.

Meanwhile the Radisson Hotels brand has undergone a brand refresh in recent years – the vast majority of the brand’s portfolio is located in the Americas and India, with just a handful of hotels outside of these regions, including the Radisson Hotel Zurich Airport (which again was previously a Park Inn property).

Commenting on the news Tom Flanagan Karttunen, area senior vice president Northern and Western Europe, Radisson Hotel Group, said:

“Introducing two new and vibrant brands to such an important international airport location is extremely exciting. This is our first Radisson and second Radisson RED hotel to open in the UK, which marks a major milestone for the company. The extensive transformation of the property meets the ever-changing and growing needs of our diverse customer base.”
